Personal Project – 2021

For my Master’s final assessment, I conceptualized Fuego Nuevo, a music festival inspired by the rich traditions and symbolism of Pre-Hispanic cultures. Drawing from historical and cultural research, the festival was designed to honor heritage while offering a contemporary and immersive experience.

The concept centered around the ancient Fuego Nuevo (New Fire) ritual, celebrated every 52 years in Tenochtitlán as a metaphorical renewal of life and cycles. This profound ceremony represented the search for harmony and universal balance—a theme that shaped every aspect of the festival's identity.

The visual identity was built to reflect the festival's essence. The logo, crafted using a structured grid, embodied the strong and timeless nature of the concept. A gradient of fiery reds and oranges against black backgrounds symbolized renewal through flames, while a geometric diamond-shaped pictogram abstracted the image of a spark. This minimalist, linear approach tied seamlessly into the modern reinterpretation of Pre-Hispanic aesthetics, ensuring consistency across all deliverables.

From social media assets to merchandise, every design element was meticulously crafted to balance the festival’s cultural depth with its modern execution. Fuego Nuevo represents a celebration of identity, unity, and the continuity of cycles—a festival experience designed to ignite both passion and reflection.
